BITTER COLD FORECAST – SLICK ROADS THIS AM

The storm that brought Alabama rain, a wintry mix and even some snow across the north, has departed and is now burying the Carolinas in snow. Frigid air is funneling into the state behind the storm.  It is a bitter cold Saturday morning with temperatures in the 20’s south and teens north.  Wind chill is still dropping: teens deep into south Alabama and single digits north.

TRAVEL: Take it easy out there, especially during the morning hours.  Travel on streets & highways icy in spots across central Alabama, especially in places where standing water has frozen.  Slow down on bridges and overpasses especially. Winter Weather Advisory will expire at 9AM.

SNOWFALL:  There is still a little snow on the ground from central Mississippi, across north central Alabama and into the Atlanta area where up to 3” fell.  Here’s the snow on the ground map.

BITTER COLD WEEKEND:  Temperatures will hover in the 20’s this morning with a wind chill around 10.  Today’s high 34.  TONIGHT:  Bitter cold.  Low 19, wind chill 10-12.  SUNDAY:  Sunny but cold.  High 40.  Low Sunday night 24.   Not quite as cold Monday.  High in the upper 40s.

WEEK AHEAD:  60’s are back Tuesday and Wednesday, and low 70’s Thursday & Friday with scattered showers around.  What a turn around!

Stay warm!  Throw and extra log on the fire.  I know a lot of folks would rather have enough snow on the ground to make a snowman, but there’s a lot winter ahead!   Have a great weekend!  -Rich
