Parade of Storm Systems Ahead – Saturday Severe Threat – Thursday Video

Good Morning!  Cooler today, but all eyes are on that Saturday storm system, with the potential of severe weather.  In fact, all of the state is now included in the severe threat.  That’s only first of a parade of storms, one after another, which will affect us about every three days for the next couple of weeks.  Each system could bring a severe weather threat.  I’ll walk you through the details on this morning’s important weather briefing.

SPC has expanded the Saturday Severe Threat to include virtually all of the state. Strongest risk from I-65 westward.  Greatest threat would be for damaging wind gusts.

Saturday’s storm system is really just the first of a series of storms that will come at us every few days, one after another for the next couple of weeks.  They are stacked up way out into the central Pacific already.

WEEKEND UPDATE: Potent Storm System – Wednedsday Video

Good Morning! Changes ahead.  Upper 80’s yesterday, upper 60’s tomorrow. Another temperature rollercoaster next few days.  Severe Weather Threat for a big chunk of the state by Saturday night.  I’ll update the weekend weather details for here and the Beaches.  And, will April be another above normal temperature month?  Here’s your Wednesday morning personal weather briefing.

Cool front slips all the way down to near the coast by lunch time today.  After 88 yesterday, we may not make it to 68 for a high on Thursday.

All Eyes on that Saturday Evening/Night storm system.  Storm Prediction Center has now extended the severe weather threat eastward into Alabama.

The 2 major Global Models, the GFS and EURO bring in this storm system Saturday night.

Shower threat in the Weekend Beach Outlook, otherwise not not too bad of a forecast.

More Like May than March – Weekend Storms – Tuesday Video

Good Morning!   Maybe not a record high today, but we are in for a very warm Tuesday, more like late May.  Cool front to the north will bring a big change by late week.  And, we still monitoring that potent Saturday storm system for the severe weather potential. I’ll update the latest from SPC, plus an update on time of arrival of the storms.  The next 2-3 weeks looks very active indeed.  Here’s your 2 minute Tuesday morning personal weather briefing.

Remarkable March day.  Our projected high of 86 is more like the normal high on May 21st.

Parts of North Alabama could see some strong storms tonight, especially in the 5PM – 10PM time window.  Some could be severe, according to the Storm Prediction Center.

Leading edge of cooler air heads into south Alabama tomorrow.  Thursday’s high may not make it out of the 60’s.

Still monitoring that potentially potent Saturday evening/Saturday night storm system which could bring strong storms to the state.

Best threat of severe weather is a little west of us on this new outlook from SPC for Saturday.  This could change.

Spring Begins, Temperatures Soar – Monday Video

Good Morning!  Welcome to Spring!   And, right on cue, temperatures will soar today and especially tomorrow. On this video, we’ll get you ready for the week ahead, including the increasing likelyhood  of  Severe Weather by about Saturday. I’ll update you on the latest from the Storm Prediction Center.   This is your Monday morning personal weather briefing.  Have a great first Day or Spring!

Very warm start to spring with upper 70’s to near 80 today and Mid 80’s probable tomorrow.

The Storm Prediction Center has already outlined much of our state for a Severe Risk on Saturday.  It’s very unusual when SPC does that 6 days in advance. It certainly gets our attention.

Global models disagree on timing.  GFS is about 6 hours faster than the Euro.  Looks like we are probably talking about wither Saturday afternoon and/or Saturday Night for the best storm threat.

We will be watching future model runs closely all week.

Last Day of Winter

Beautiful weather is on tap today for Winter’s last day.  After a chilly start, we will be near 70 this afternoon.  Perfect Sunday weather. Sunshine will dominate.   Sunrise 6:49, Sunset 6:56.  Low tonight 46.

Look at the warmth today from the Gulf South to record highs in the Plains state.

SPRING BEGINS:  Tomorrow is the vernal equinox – equal day and night at the equator.  Spring officially begins when the direct rays of the sun cross the equator.  That happens at 5:29AM our time Monday morning.

WEEK AHEAD:  Spring begins on a very warm note, indeed.  Highs will peak in the low 80’s Tuesday.  Spotty showers possible Wednesday.  Cooler late week.

SEVERE WEATHER THREAT:  We’ve been watching this for several days.  A potent storm system will move into the state Saturday.  Global models disagree on the exact time table and the details, but severe storms are certainly possible and we will monitor this storm system through the week ahead.  More about this on my next video which will be online by tomorrow morning at 5.
